Drying wire, cable and other extrusions can be tricky, expensive business. In the production and work process long products are often lead through immersion baths in order to be cleaned or cooled down. For the drying process we developed a stainless steel nozzle, which guaranties the optimal drying even at extremely high speed (5-10 m/s) and rough handling.
The stainless steel body of the air wipe is resistant to aggressive agents, unlike the usual plastic nozzles. The nozzle can be completely dismantled, which certainly is another advantage because worn or broken pieces can be replaced. These nozzles can easily be integrated in existing production processes or drying units because of their small dimensions and the ease of assembly.
A surface is dried by an airstream, which is lead through a helical plastic body inside the nozzle and leaves it as a rotation-symmetrical blower. This airstream causes an enormous shear impulse on the interface between the profile surface and the water. It exceeds the interfacial energy of the adhering fluid. Both the shear impulse and the additional acceleration of the airstream by the injection effect leads to best drying results; with low air consumption and high speed processing. Alternative methods are clearly outclassed.
As the air wipe is adjusted to the diameter of the wet parts, we developed a whole range of drying nozzles. We deliver seven different designs with diameters from 4,0 to 19,0 mm. Information in writing (pdf documents) are at your disposal: Downloads

| AW06C | 6,0 mm | 2,5 – 4,0 mm |
| AW08C | 8,0 mm | 4,0 – 6,0 mm |
| AW10C | 10,0 mm | 6,0 – 8,0 mm |

GEO has included two variants of efficient air nozzles in its programme, especially designed for the drying of very thin wires or for use in multiple lines.
The great drying results of the air wipe model AWM5 are achieved with the Venturi principle.
Inside the body a pair of very precisely treated synthetic rubies or sapphires in a metallic holder are arranged in tandem. Due to the excellent wear resistance of the material, these cartridges are suitable for direct replacement of ceramic guides on existing machines (e.g. multiwire annealers) or in modules for new installations.
Ready for installation, the air nozzles are available in 6 sizes for wire diameters from 0.2 to 1.3 mm.
| type | inner diameter | recommended wire Ø |
| AWM5-3 | 0,3 mm | 0,10 – 0,25 mm |
| AWM5-4 | 0,4 mm | 0,20 – 0,35 mm |
| AWM5-5 | 0,5 mm | 0,35 – 0,45 mm |
| AWM5-6 | 0,6 mm | 0,45 – 0,55 mm |
| AWM5-8 | 0,8 mm | 0,55 – 0,75 mm |
| AWM5-1,4 | 1,4 mm | 0,75 – 1,30 mm |
Made up of a metal cylinder and a solid ceramic wipe body, the modular air wipe model AWM10 is available in 8 sizes for wire diameters from 0.15 to 2,8 mm. Multiple line modules are also possible. In this case the distance between the wires amounts to 42 mm.
