Spiral brushes for wire descaling and wire wiping
Inverted brush spirals are ideal for lighter cleaning or in-line mechanical removal of scale residues, filings, dust and soap on wires and rods. The overlapping bristles permanently wipe over the running wire. The open design of the spirals prevents bristles from stick together by residues. Depending on application 10 windings or about 20 centimetres can be sufficient to achieve a high effectiveness.
GEO offers a wide variety of metal and synthetic filaments. Several diameters are available packaged in 1 metre lengths.
Brushes made from brass-coated steel filaments with a galvanised or stainless steel back are ideal to wipe back excess scale dust prior to wire drawing. They can also be used on post drawing for wiping excess lubricant prior to heat treatment or chemical cleaning.
In combination with chemical baths and in high-temperature environments stainless steel brushes can improve the efficiency of surface treatment.
Spiral brushes with soft or hard Polyamide (PA) or Polypropylene (PP) filaments gentle wipe and brush the surface even of softer metals and remove lubrication residue and excess coating from wires. They are ideal for eliminating drag out or carry-over from one bath to the next. In addition they can increase uniform lubricant adhesion. Stainless steel backed brushes can be used in acid and alkaline systems.
