Next generation of mechanical wire cleaning

Production-related contamination on wire surfaces and conductors can be reduced or removed both aqueously, using ultrasound, high-pressure nozzles or steam, and mechanically, using brushes or textiles. The individual cleaning methods each have their own strengths in order to achieve the desired cleaning result. The best surface quality is generally achieved with aqueous methods, as these can also remove contamination from deep-lying areas, such as defects.

Mechanical cleaning systems such as GEO's Primary Wire Wipe (PWW) or the LS WST reduce contamination from the visible material surface through mechanical friction. They score points for their versatility and small footprint. The devices work with textile materials that are continuously transported during operation. This ensures that always clean cleaning medium is in contact with the wire or tape surface. When operated dry, particles are reduced, while the targeted addition of liquid directly before or in the process zone supports cleaning and coating tasks.

GEO Reinigungstechnik GmbH has further optimized the design of these tried-and-tested wire cleaning systems for the 2025 model year. All devices in the PWW and LS WST series are now equipped with an HMI (“Human Machine Interface”). The HMI allows the operator to communicate easily with the systems via a graphical user interface. The visualization of data in real time simplifies the control of parameters. In addition to fine-tuning the tape transport, communication and control is possible via Profinet and Modbus/TCP. This makes integration into production considerably easier.

Devices from the PWW and LS WST family offer versatile solutions for customers looking for space-saving yet efficient wire cleaning.
